Week 1 – Arrival, Work, and First Impressions in Crete 🇬🇷

My first week of the Erasmus stay on Crete was a mix of arriving, settling in, and gaining the first work experience.

On Sunday, we arrived in Heraklion, picked up our rental cars, and drove to our accommodation in a small village nearby. We are living together as a group, which created a good atmosphere from the beginning. After checking in, we explored the surroundings and went out to eat in the evening.

On Monday, the official program started. We met the team from MD Hellas and got an introduction to the week. We also had a city tour through Heraklion and did a large grocery shopping for the group.

Tuesday was the first day of work. We worked at Legatron, where systems for the hospitality sector are developed. At the beginning, we focused on testing the software and reporting bugs to better understand how everything works. After work, we spent time together as a group and did some activities.

On Wednesday, we continued working, but there was also a special situation: a strong sandstorm from the Sahara covered the island, which created an unusual atmosphere. Despite this, the work continued as planned.

Thursday and Friday became more practical. We worked on tasks where we could contribute our own ideas and gain more hands-on experience with the systems. After work, we often spent time together, for example going out to eat or relaxing.

During the weekend, we focused on recovery and exploring the area. We spent time together, went out for food, and saw more of the surroundings.

Overall, the first week was a good combination of work, group activities, and getting used to the new environment.
