Progress at MD Hellas and Easter Traditions
The second week of my internship in Crete has brought both technical challenges and cultural insights.
Work at MD Hellas took a turn on Monday. My supervisor, Maria, officially handed over the Edureg project, a Python Django-based management system. However, the start was far from seamless. The project had not been handed over cleanly by the students who previously worked on it, leading to significant hurdles in getting the system to run locally. I spent much of my time troubleshooting environment configurations and untangling inherited code.

Tuesday and Wednesday offered a change of pace. The weather was beautiful, so we spent our afternoons enjoying the pool at our house. These hours in the sun provided a great opportunity for the group to decompress and share our experiences from the first few days of the work week.
On Thursday, we decided to organize a barbecue at the house. It was the perfect evening to gather everyone together in the garden and enjoy some grilled food. This shared activity served as a great transition into the long holiday weekend ahead.

The other part of the week was dedicated to the Greek Easter festivities. From Friday through Sunday, we witnessed the traditions that define this holiday on the island. The atmosphere in and around Heraklion was vibrant, with local churches and communities coming together for the celebrations.

We balanced the cultural celebrations with some time at the beach. The wide coastal views and the calm Mediterranean environment were the perfect contrast to a week of coding and troubleshooting.
Exploring the local food scene during the Easter weekend also gave me a deeper appreciation for Cretan hospitality.
