Week 4 – New Experiences, Visitors, and an Unexpected Turn
Week four on Crete brought a mix of routine, exciting new experiences, and one moment none of us will forget.
Monday started as a pretty standard workday at Psifiakos Kosmos. After work, I went jogging and cooled off in the pool while waiting for the others to return. Once everyone was back, we had a great evening together by the pool with music, sunshine, and really good vibes. Later, I caught up on an NBA Playoffs game I had missed the night before. To top off the day, we drove to a bowling center in Heraklion, grabbed some food, and played bowling and arcade games.
On Tuesday, we worked on testing a new feature for the Kitchen Management System (KMS). After work, I cooked salmon for dinner, which was a nice change and a really relaxed way to end the day.
Wednesday was something different: we had an outside installation job in Hersonissos and Anissaras. We installed terminals and printers for restaurants, which gave a great hands-on insight into how our work is actually used in real environments. Back at our Airbnb in Episkopi, we had a quiet evening—but with a small highlight: we kind of “adopted” a cat that had been roaming around our place and now seems to be staying with us.
Thursday was more relaxed at work, and I used some time to work on my blog. The highlight of the day was definitely picking up my girlfriend from the airport. We spent the rest of the day together, enjoying a nice dinner and a calm evening in the yard.
Friday continued at an easy pace—we built some stands for the 10-inch terminals. Since the weather wasn’t great, we kept things low-key during the day, but still went out partying in the evening.
The weekend, however, took an unexpected turn. My girlfriend and I planned to go to Malia, and a colleague offered to drive us so we wouldn’t need a taxi. Unfortunately, we got into a car accident on the way. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the cars were badly damaged. After everything was sorted out, we still made it to Malia and spent the rest of the weekend there. In the end, we were able to enjoy some good weather, relax at the beach, and I even went into the sea.
This week showed me that even when things don’t go as planned, you can still make the best out of the situation and create good memories in the end.
