My Fifth Week in Crete: Taking Time to Recover

My Fifth Week in Crete: Taking Time to Recover

This week was very different from the previous ones. After the car accident last weekend, we all felt that we needed some time to process what had happened. Instead of following our usual routine, we decided to take the week off and focus on resting and recovering.

Monday, 27 April 2026 - Slowing Down

Monday was our first day without work, and it felt strange not to follow our usual routine.

Most of the day was veryx quiet. We stayed at the house, talked about the accident, and tried to process everything that had happened. Even though no one was seriously injured, the experience had affected all of us more than we initially realised.

We spent the day resting and taking things slowly, which was exactly what we needed.

Tuesday, 28 April 2026 - Supporting Each Other

On Tuesday, we continued to take it easy.

We spent a lot of time together at the villa, talking about the accident and checking how everyone was feeling. It was helpful to have the group around, because everyone understood what the others were going through.

During times like this, I realised how valuable the community aspect of the Erasmus+ programme really is.

Wednesday, 29 April 2026 - Staying in Contact with Work

On Wednesday, I stayed in contact with my supervisor Maria at MD Hellas.

She was very understanding and told me that my health and recovery should come first. Even though I was not working this week, I still kept the goals of my Edureg project in mind and looked forward to continuing once I felt ready.

The rest of the day was very quiet, and we mostly stayed at home and relaxed.

Thursday, 30 April 2026 - A Quiet Day at the Villa

By Thursday, things were slowly starting to feel more normal again.

We kept the day simple and spent most of our time at the villa. We cooked together, shared meals, and focused on small everyday things.

Even though we did not do anything special, it was comforting to spend time together and feel that everyone was doing better.

Friday to Sunday - Birthday Weekend in Chania

From Friday to Sunday, I went to Chania, where I celebrated my birthday.

Chania is one of the most beautiful cities I have visited in Crete. The old Venetian harbour has a very special atmosphere, especially in the evening when the waterfront is full of people and the city feels very lively.

During the weekend, I spent a lot of time walking through the old town, exploring the narrow streets, and discovering small shops, cafés, and restaurants. I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the mix of history and modern city life.

Celebrating my birthday there made the weekend even more memorable. It was a great opportunity to clear my head after the events of the week and enjoy a change of scenery.
