My Second Week: Sun, Pool and New Experiences
This week felt a bit more relaxed than the first one. I’m slowly getting used to life here, and the weather is getting warmer every day. We spent a lot of time outside, and there were many small moments that made the week really enjoyable.
Monday, 6 April 2026 - A Walk Through Episkopi
On Monday, I saw something interesting during my break at work. There were beekeepers working near a cactus field, which I had never seen before. It was something unusual and made my break more interesting.
After work, we went for a walk through the village of Episkopi to explore it a bit more. I enjoy these walks because the village is quiet and has a relaxed atmosphere. During the walk, I saw a few cats again, which I really like and which has become a small highlight for me here.
In the evening, we cooked at home and later spent time together outside in the garden. We sat there for a while, talked, and just enjoyed the warm evening.

Tuesday, 7 April 2026 - Very Warm Weather
After work on Tuesday, we went to IKEA to get a few things. It was already very warm that day, and you could really feel that the weather was changing.
Some people wanted to go into the pool to cool down, but I decided not to because the water still felt a bit too cold for me. Instead, I stayed outside and enjoyed the sun for a while, which was also really nice.
Overall, it was a pretty relaxed day without too much going on.

Wednesday, 8 April 2026 – A Quick Stop and Some Fresh Air
On Wednesday, we went to IKEA again for a short time because I specifically wanted to buy the vegan meatballs. It’s actually quite difficult to find good meat alternatives here in Crete, so I was happy to get them there.
After that, I went for another walk through the village. I’ve started to really enjoy these walks because it’s a nice way to relax after work and just clear my head.

Thursday, 9 April 2026 - Barbecue Evening
On Thursday, we had a barbecue together at our accommodation. We all spent the evening outside.
I had a burger, and Marvin made a pasta salad, which I found really delicious. We sat together for quite a while, talked, laughed, and just enjoyed the evening. It was simple, but a really nice time.

Friday, 10 April 2026 - Holiday, Pool and a Fun Evening
Friday was a public holiday in Greece (Orthodox Good Friday), so I was finally able to sleep in, which felt really good.
Because it was so warm, I went into the pool for the first time. At first, the water felt cold, but after a short time it was actually really refreshing. We played with a ball in the pool, which was a lot of fun.
Later in the evening, we went out to eat. I had a salad and garlic bread. After that, we went out for a bit, walked around, and had a really fun night together.
Saturday, 11 April 2026 - Wasp Nest, Pool and a Long Night
On Saturday, I noticed something unexpected at my terrace window. A wasp nest had just started to be built there, and you could already see the eggs inside. It felt a bit uncomfortable to have it so close, so Moritz and I decided to remove it before it became a bigger problem.
Later that day, I went into the pool again because it was very warm. The weather really started to feel like summer, and the pool was the best way to cool down.
In the evening, we got ready and at around 11 p.m. we drove to Heraklion. Together with Marvin, Torben, and Julien, I went to a church where many people had gathered. Around midnight, there was a really nice fireworks show, and the whole area was full of people celebrating. It was a very special moment.
After that, we drove to Hersonissos, where we spent the rest of the night. We danced a lot, listened to music, and stayed out very late. It was definitely one of the most fun nights so far, and we had a really good time together.

Sunday, 12 April 2026 – A Relaxed Day in Heraklion
On Sunday, we went back to Heraklion to spend some more time in the city and explore it a bit further. After the long night before, it felt good to take things a bit slower.
We walked through the streets, passed by different shops, and just looked around without any real plan. It was nice to see the city during the day because everything feels different compared to the evening. You notice more details, like small cafés, people sitting outside, and the general atmosphere.
At one point, we saw a street musician playing music. He also had two very cute dogs with him, which immediately caught my attention. We stayed there for a moment, listened to the music, and just enjoyed the situation. It was a simple moment, but it made the day feel a bit more special.
After that, we continued walking through the city, talked a lot, and just enjoyed spending time together. The weather was warm, and overall it was a very relaxed day without any stress.
Compared to the rest of the week, it was nice to have a calm day like this and just take everything in. It was a good way to end the week and recharge a bit for the days ahead.

Looking Back on My Second Week
Overall, my second week in Crete felt more relaxed than the first one, but it was still full of different experiences. I’m slowly getting used to the daily routine here, both at work and in our accommodation.
The weather got much warmer this week, which made a big difference. We spent more time outside, especially at the pool, and just enjoyed being in the sun. It also felt nice to have more calm moments in between, like walking through the village or sitting together in the garden.
At the same time, there were still some special moments, like the fireworks during the Orthodox Easter weekend, the barbecue evening, or just small things like seeing animals or exploring the area.
I feel like I’m starting to settle in more and feel comfortable here. I’m looking forward to the next weeks and excited to see what else I will experience in Crete.
