Week 6: Shop Duty, Pizza-Stealing Cats, and Paintball Battles
Moin! Week six is done, and it was the perfect mix of high energy and pure relaxation. Work was smooth, giving us plenty of time to enjoy the improving weather and try out some new activities.
Holding Down the Fort
Work-wise, it was a pretty quiet week at the shop. We spent some time doing general tidying up and organizing, but the real highlight was handling customer service. For a short period, we were actually left completely in charge of the store! It was a cool experience to manage the shop and help the customers entirely on our own, and everything went smoothly.
Local Wildlife & Champions League
Back at the house, the local wildlife kept us entertained.

- Laki the Cat: The neighborhood cat, whom we named "Laki", "Raki" or also "Kayto" has basically become our unofficial mascot. First, he joined us for a quick game of football, and later on Wednesday, he boldly attempted to steal a slice of our pizza.
- Football Night: On Wednesday evening, the whole group gathered to watch the Champions League semi-finals.
- Group Cooking: Following up on my chef duties from last week, the entire group teamed up on Thursday to cook a massive portion of Bolognese. We all ate together outside in the garden, which was a great vibe.
Paintball & Souvlaki: The Ultimate Friday
Friday afternoon was easily the highlight of the week. We went paintballing for the very first time!
- The Action: It was packed with adrenaline—and yes, I definitely came home with a few blue bruises to prove it. But it was an amazing experience, and we met some really cool people there. Plus, the price was an absolute steal: €20 for 3 hours of playtime and 300 rounds.
- The Feast: After running around for three hours, we were starving. We headed straight to a local tavern and rewarded ourselves with chicken souvlaki and garlic bread.

Sun, Pool, and Good Food
As the weather finally started getting warmer, the weekend was all about soaking up the sun.
- Saturday: We headed into the city center of Heraklion (Iraklio) to grab some ice cream and enjoy the sunshine.
- Pool Time: The rest of Saturday and the entire Sunday were spent chilling by our house pool, working on our tans, and doing absolutely nothing. We ended the perfect weekend exactly how you should in Greece: with another visit to a traditional tavern.
Summary of the week: From running the shop alone to dodging paintballs and lazy pool days, week 6 had a bit of everything. The routine is fully established now, and Crete is starting to feel like a second home.
