Week 8 – The End of an Unforgettable Time
The last week of my internship had a special atmosphere from the very beginning. You notice it in the little things – like leaving the house in the morning and pausing for a moment, knowing it's one of the last times. Crete has had a profound impact on me over the past two months, and the certainty that it's almost over resonates throughout the entire week.
At Twinsoft, I continued my work on UI/UX testing and let the week wind down calmly and with focus. It was a good way to end – no more big sprints, but rather carefully finishing what I had started. Looking back, I'm glad I had this experience. Testing user interfaces gave me a perspective I didn't have before, and one that I will certainly take with me to future projects.
At home, the big clean-up was underway. As a group, we gradually returned the house to its original state – cleaning rooms, emptying the refrigerator, and packing suitcases. What sounds like a simple task took a surprising amount of time and energy, mainly because I kept getting sidetracked by memories. Every corner of the house is full of little stories from the past few weeks.
We spent the last evening together – a lovely way to end things for a group that had really bonded in such a short time. It was the perfect setting to reflect on the past weeks, laugh, and say goodbye. Laki also seemed to sense that something was changing – he was unusually quiet that evening.
On Saturday, it was off to the airport and back to Berlin. As we took off, I looked out the window one last time and tried to memorize the coastline. Two months in Crete, an internship that helped me grow both professionally and personally, a group of people I won't soon forget – and somewhere down there, a garden with a cheeky cat I'll miss.
It was an unforgettable time. Until the next adventure.
